Are you willing to escape the stereotypes and Mykonos buzz for a moment ? Well, we propose you to visit Mykonos Vioma, an organic vineyard and charming little farm untouched by modern and touristy influences. By meeting the Asimomytis family while authentic wine tasting and farm-to-table experience you will be enhanced by part of Mykonos cultural heritage, established in 1994. The focus is on organic farming based on the value of tradition, the wisdom of nature and good music for growing healthy grapes of the island.
The cultivation in Vioma organic farm is organic, bio-dynamic, based on the principles of Rudolph Steiner. Thanks to the microclimate of the region–strong north winds and lack of water, and due to the rich ingredients of the soil, remaining free of chemicals, pesticides and intensive cultivation, they produce healthy grapes of a superior taste and quality. The traditional Aegean-sea grape varieties are naturally compatible with these conditions. Weeds are eliminated and the soil is fertilized with the cooperation of the farm animals.
The vineyard was rejuvenated by planting traditional Aegean-sea varieties: Asyrtiko, Athiri, Monemvasia, Malagouzia, Agiannitis and Mandilaria. Classical music is played through speakers around the field to accompany both visitors and employees in their daily duties. Studies show that plants, and especially grapes, correspond very positively to good quality music and become healthy and vigorous.
You have the opportunity to taste the simplicity-traditional products from Mykonos and the greater area of Cyclades together with their organic wines. At Mykonos Vioma the philosophy is to appreciate the superior quality of pure and fresh produce-they love simplicity and offer to the guests a platter of taste of what they choose for the garden where they grow organic seasonal vegetables and Mediterranean herbs. At the traditional wood-oven they rejoice in baking bread and food for the family in the old fashion.
Also, we want to mention that The Travel & Hospitality Awards team has proudly announced that Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm has been awarded in its 2021 European Travel Awards programme.
