• Kapari: Small is Beautiful
Small, secluded and lovely sandy beach located at the end of Agios Ioannis, a walk from the small white chapel and fishermen’s jetty. You can enjoy the sunrays all day till sunset. Simple natural pleasure, no beach chairs or umbrellas; known to the few, a perfect spot for late afternoon romance, or a peaceful early morning swim.
• Agios Ioannis: For the Few
Small sandy beach ideal for families located in the exclusive Agios Ioannis area. Well sheltered, good for the more windy Mykonos days, it offers comfortable sun-beds and umbrellas and great views over Delos Island. Ideal for couples and families alike looking for a relaxaed atmosphere from morning untill sunset. Lunch option: Hippie Fish. Famous for being featured in the movie Shirley Valentine, Hippie Fish is a classic when it comes to Mykonos’ beach tavernas. • Ornos: Easy Reach
Long sandy beach located in the touristic and busy area of Ornos, but at easy reach with regular bus service to town and Agios Ioannis, plus boat service to other beaches including Psarou, Elia, Agrari and Super Paradise. Lots of umbrellas and sun-beds, good beach services with a large choice of diverse tavernas and great beach bars. Lunch option: Kuzina. Kuzina is a fairly new venue but came onto the scene very strong with a fresh ambien- ce, hip beach service and a hand-picked menu that features an array of revisited Greek dishes. It is also renown for being one of the main sushi spots on the island and serves this delicacy directly at your sun bed as well. • Psarou: Stylish & Be Seen
Smaller, exclusive area, stylish beach nestled in a sheltered cove. Sailing boats and celebrity yachts are all part of the view. The best beach for any windy day – it boasts very stylish sun beds and umbrellas with excellent service. It has as valet parking but as it is a very popular spot, parking fills up quickly thus best to go early. Lunch option: Nammos. N’Ammos is possibly one the most famous beach restaurants in Europe, well known to be the hangout spot of the celebrities and socialites on the island. It boasts a choice of three different restaurants and menues, N’Ammos, Coo & N’Ammos Concept with an extravagant wine & champagne list. • Platis Gialos: Busy & Family Friendly
Long sandy beach terraced by many hotels & tavernas. Often a first choice for families with younger children as there are lots of beach activities, sun beds & umbrellas. Very crowded as popular in high season, best to be on the far left side. Kaiki boats are available to reach other main southern beaches such Super Paradise & Kalo Livadi. Lunch option: Bonatza. Perched just above the beach and with service to its sun beds, Bonatza stands out among the more touristic tavernas found on Platis Gialos. Completely renovated, it has a very nice and large veranda overlooking the sea and the menu mainly revolves around Greek summer classics with the added value of featuring sushi to provide a more complete experience in this cozy and stylish venue. • Paranga: Trendy & Music
Very trendy long sandy beach, popular with international crowd. Sun beds & umbrellas are made of dried leaves. Bright white Kalua Beach Bar is filled with young ‘a la mode’ people sipping “frappes” or delicious cocktails, depending on the mood. Often crwoded in high season, the close by Agia Anna could be a quiter beach alternative. Lunch option: Scorpios. A beachfront open-air open-floor restaurant furnished with large tables, thoughtfully designed to accommodate and advocate this dietary lifestyle in a nourishing environment. • Paradise: Young & Wild
Large long sandy beach best for younger and teenage crowd. Very touristy, not the best for those seeking a relaxed, laid-back afternoon. The Tropicana Beach Bar blasts off with house music at 5pm each day, a mykonos classic. The beach is also home to the two most famous Clubs of the island: Cavo Paradiso and Paradise Club, contend for the best International Djs.
• Super Paradise: Young & Gay Friendly
Lovely long sandy beach, which is often a favorite for its bay’s deep blue waters. While the right side is gay friendly, the far left side of the beach is boasting a young party crowd enjoying loud music. Super Paradise has recently returned to its splendor, with quality and stylish new establishments like Pinky Beach & Jackie. Lunch option: Jackie O’Beach. • Elia: Sporty & Gay Friendly
Long, lovely sandy beach with umbrellas and sun-beds. Very sought after by mainly families on the left hand side of the beach, while the right is for an adult and gay friendly crowd. Various water-sports activities like the neighbouring Agrari. Our Lunch Spot is Elia Restaurant. Lunch Option: Elia Beach Restaurant. Elia is a seasonal restaurant with open spaces and magnificent view to the beach of Elia and the Aegean Sea. Large beach with coarser sand and beautiful waters, sun-beds & umbrellas. Another favorite for families where everyone can either relax or enjoy water sport activities (water-skis, jet-skis, tubes, banana and windsurf). Agrari beach is coonected to Elia beach via a path on the rocks by the sea , most suited for athletic adults and adventurers.
• Kalo Livadi: Lifestyle & Trendy
The longest and one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on Mykonos offering comfortable sun-beds & umbrellas, home now to some good new establishments with attentive beach service. A true must for all beach lovers, suited for any crowd, the glamour, the sports and the tranquillity. On some days can be windy. Lunch option: Solymar. • Agia Anna (Kalafatis): Tranquillity
Little known to international crowds, this small white sandy beach is found next to an old fisherman’s settlem ent and it offers visitors peace and quietness, wind shelter, sunbeds and umbrellas with basic but handy beach service. Just before the beach is found the Italian Bandana Restaurant, with its garden and friendly atmosphere. Lunch option: Spilia. Spilia is a hidden gem, tucked away to the right hand side of Agia Anna, surrounded by rock it boasts a unique vibe in the most traditional of settings for a beach taverna. The menu is purposely maintined minimal with a great emphasis on the catch of the day dishes and typical meze. • Kalafatis: Sportive
Very long sandy beach with sunbeds & umbrellas and beach service, more suited for families but also for water sports fans with multiple facilities, especially well equipped and positioned for wind surfers. Some hotel establishments overlook the beach contribute to crowd it a bit, while several beach tavernas offer shelter for drinks and light lunches. Lunch option: Nesaea. A new entry among the restaurant scene, located just above Kalafatis beach and distinguished for it’s version of creative Greek island gourmet cuisine. • Lia: Serenity
Large, coarser sand beach, with comfortable sun-beds & umbrellas. The farthest of the southern beaches, often the less crowded on the island, boasts a wild natural setting with crystal clear water; great for families or those looking to relax. Good beach service with cold drinks or cocktails served at your Tropézienne deck chair style. Lunch option: Liasti.Liasti came to be a couple of years back and has held its ground as one of the main venues for lunch on the southeastern side of the island. Located right on Lia beach, it boasts a Greek-centered menu, a charming minimal venue for those looking to have the perfect day on this tranquil beach. • Fokos And Mersini: Nature & Getaway
Two smaller and more isolated Northern beaches, a little drive away from the high season crowd. Fokos has coarser sand and offers isolated sunbathing opportunities and is surrounded by rocks – no umbrellas or sun-beds. A total get-away-from-it-all experience, best to avoid on strong Meltemi wind days. 4Wd is recommended. Lunch option: Fokos taverna. For those in the know this might seem like an obligated entry given this is the only restaurant on the beach of Fokos but for good reason it falls in our preferred lunch spots. A great venue with authentic feeling thanks to the typical menu with various surprising dishes. • Ftelia: Windsurfing Paradise
Wide sandy beach with no umbrellas or beach chairs, it is the wildest and windiest beach in Mykonos and has fewer visitors, for this reason is a true paradise for windsurfers. On both far sides of the beach are found quality and trendy establishments, with good service in a more wind sheltered position. Lunch option: Alemagou. For those looking to find the alternative place, Alemagou plays a dominant role in a shortlist of choices. Concieved on a tucked away cove on Ftelia, it has become one of the island favorites thanks to a unique approach to dining on Mykonos, with a natural surrounding and an overall laid back atmosphere throughout the restaurant, friendly staff and good choice of delicacies from its refined cuisine. • Panormos: Trendy & Free
Long with fine soft sand and beautiful setting, once very trendy beach for few, is now easily over crowded. It is still a cool hangout attracting many locals and ‘those in the know’. Volleyball court and racket ball are possible and very popular. Great swimming, but not recommended on very windy days. Lunch Option: Principauté de Mykonos. The new venture of a veteran team on Mykonos, set to cater to the utmost sophistication. With tables set under a large pergola-shaded area and directly on the sand, enhanced by a cool lounge area, Panormos offers a nice array of Greek- Mediterranea fusion cuisine oriented dishes in a vibrant and trendy setting. Throughout the summer the restaurant is also venue to cool parties with music & drinks right on the sea.
• Agios Sostis: Freedom & Tranquillity
Splendid setting with fine sand and clear seawater. More secluded with limited tourists and no sun beds or umbrellas. Located at the end of Panormos Bay, beach cove style and much quieter option to the neighboring Panormos Beach. A paradise for all those searching peace and quiet. To avoid on a windy Meltemi day. Lunch option: Kiki’s. Kiki’s is a true, and most probably the last, stronghold in authenticism on the island, it has remained true to its concept summer after summer. Well known for its magical and picturesque location, it is a must for all those who wish to cherish a timeless experience on Mykonos. True to the laid-back concept this restaurant does not take reservations and is only open for lunch, therefore expect a bit of a wait!
• Agios Stefanos: Re-styled Beach
This easily accessible beach can be reached from the city with only a five minutes drive. The beach has been re-styled with comfortable sun beds. Fine sand with a beautiful southeast view till sunset, is particularly suited for family with children, therefore popular amongst the locals. Nice Greek taverna Epostrofi for a relaxed lunch by the beachfront. Lunch option: H Epistrofi. On the beautiful beach of Agios Stefanos, with the fantastic view in the Chora of Mykonos and Delos, they have created a restaurant, giving priority to the tastefulness and the simplicity, with beautiful music and relaxed atmosphere.
